Where is Matchy Matchy Malta based?

We operate out of our home studio in Sliema, Malta. We do not have a physical shop at the moment however, if you wish to see your order beforehand, get in touch with us and we will arrange that together.

 

What is polymer clay?

Polymer clay is non-toxic, extremely lightweight material, perfect for statement jewelry without dragging your ears down.

Polymer clay is supposed to be flexible and bendy.

You may notice earrings being more flexible after a days wear. This is from your body heat and totally normal. Same happens if earrings are left in the sun or the day is very hot.

 

How do you work polymer clay?

Different coloured clay is conditioned by hand to become a soft, workable texture. Then, using a special clay roller or a pasta machine, the clay is flattened to a level, smooth surface. Once this is done, the shapes are cut using clay cutters. The raw clay is then transferred to a baking sheet and baked in an oven until cured and flexible. After baking, if needed, clay is sanded by hand using a sandpaper or power tools. And then the finishing touches are added like painting, resin, hooks, studs, etc.

 

How do I care for my jewelry?

Polymer clay is a flexible and durable material. However, the surface can be easily scratched by harder materials such as metal. Be sure to store your jewelry carefully away from other metal jewelry. Please remember that delicate metal charms and findings can be damaged by rough handling, so please handle with care and keep in mind that each piece was carefully handmade.

Makeup and other dirt can be removed from clay components by gently going over the dirty spots with soft cotton and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Important: do not apply this cleaning technique to pieces that have been hand painted as this could potentially smudge or remove the paint.

Raw brass / gold plated components may tarnish and darken over time from exposure to water and oils but can be cleaned with a soft jewelry polishing cloth. Be sure to store jewelry away from humidity to reduce tarnish. 

 

When can I expect my order?

We do our best to prepare and deliver products as quickly as possible. On average the order is ready for a pick up within 1 or 2 days and if you choose an option of delivery we deliver between 2 to 3 days afterreceiving the order. If you need your product by a certain date, please reach out to us immediately upon placing your order to see if your timeframe is feasible. We always do our best to accommodate.

 

Can I request a customization?

We do custom work on a case-by-case basis depending on the request, the date it’s needed by and the type of customization. Please note that custom pieces may incur additional charges.

 

What is your refund policy?

Polymer clay is very durable and it is unlikely that the earrings would break. Still, should the earrings or findings get damaged, send us a photo and description of what happened at thematchymatchymalta@gmail.com and we will either refund your money or offer you another pair of the same value.
